Eckert Named Coordinator of Student-Athlete Success

ARNOLD, MD – The Anne Arundel Community College athletic department has announced that Stephanie Eckert has joined the department as the Riverhawks' coordinator of student-athlete success. Eckert will oversee student-athlete support in the areas of academics, retention, eligibility and life skills.  

Eckert joins the Riverhawks from the University of Maryland's Gossett Center for Academic and Personal Excellence where she was an assistant athletic academic counselor. Eckert provided academic, eligibility, and advising support for student-athletes from various teams including football, women's gymnastics, women's soccer, men's and women's track and field, and women's golf. During her tenure at Maryland, she also managed the TERPS (Teaching Educational Responsibility, Productivity, and Success) virtual objective-based study hall program.

"I am very excited to be joining the AACC team," said Eckert. "I look forward to working with student-athletes to help them achieve their academic and professional goals while connecting them with the resources they need for success both here at AACC and as they move on."

Eckert brings a wide range of expertise to AACC, ranging from primary school educator and coach to college admissions representative.

"Stephanie brings a broad knowledge base and a passion for teaching, mentoring, and collaborating with diverse staff and student populations," said AACC athletic director Duane Herr. "We are excited for the impact Stephanie will make in not just the academic success of our student-athletes, but also in other areas of their lives as well."

Eckert earned a master's degree from Kansas State University in academic advising with a specialization in advising college student-athletes in 2020 and a bachelor's degree in physical education and health from McGill University in 2014. She resides with her husband, William.
