AACC Student-Athletes, Teams, Earn Academic Recognition from NJCAA

ARNOLD, Md. – Anne Arundel Community College student-athletes have been recognized for academic success by the NJCAA, it was announced Wednesday. The women's lacrosse team was named the NJCAA Women's Lacrosse 2023-24 Academic Team of the Year with the highest team GPA among NJCAA women's lacrosse programs for the second-straight year. The golf and women's soccer teams were named NJCAA All-Academic Teams. The Riverhawks had 33 student-athletes earn individual academic honors as NJCAA All-Academic First, Second, and Third Team honorees.

The Riverhawks' women's lacrosse team repeats as the nation's top academic team, this year with a 3.08 GPA. The golf (3.18 GPA) and women's soccer (3.31 GPA) teams were named NJCAA All-Academic Teams.

Of the 33 individuals recognized on the NJCAA All-Academic Teams, AACC had 11 on the first team, 10 on the second team, and 12 on the third team. The NJCAA All-Academic Teams recognize student-athletes across the country for their dedication in the classroom. 

Student-athletes are eligible to earn academic honors by achieving an overall GPA of 3.60 or higher for the 2023-24 academic year. The criteria for the three All-Academic teams are listed below:

• NJCAA All-Academic First Team: 4.00 GPA
• NJCAA All-Academic Second Team: 3.80-3.99 GPA
• NJCAA All-Academic Third Team: 3.60-3.79 GPA

Nationwide, 3,424 student-athletes garnered NJCAA All-Academic First Team honors after achieving a 4.0 GPA. 4,013 student-athletes were named to the NJCAA All-Academic Second Team while 4,808 student-athletes received third-team recognition.
