Jim Griffiths Joins NJCAA Lacrosse Coaches Association Hall of Fame
Coach won three NJCAA Women's Lacrosse Championships in 20 season career
ARNOLD, Md. – Jim Griffiths, former Anne Arundel Community College women's lacrosse coach, has been inducted into the NJCAA Lacrosse Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Griffiths, who currently coaches women's soccer at AACC, was honored at the NJCAA Championship Lacrosse Banquet Friday, May 8, at Harford Community College.
Griffiths was the head coach of the AACC women's lacrosse team for 21 seasons, starting in the team's first year of NJCAA competition in 2004. With Griffiths at the helm, AACC won three NJCAA titles (2006, 2007, 2023), finished as national runner-up five times, and made 15 NJCAA national tournament appearances – the most of any NJCAA women's lacrosse program.
Griffiths, who earned multiple region, district, and national coach of the year awards, finished his career with a 210-64 record. He produced 56 NJCAA All-Americans as well the 2018 Betty Jo Graber Award winner for the top female NJCAA student-athlete of the year. Griffiths was one of two women's lacrosse coaches to earn the NJCAA Coaches Legacy Award in 2025.
Over 60 of Griffiths' players continued their athletic careers at four-year schools across all divisions; many more continued their educations at four-year schools. His lacrosse coaching tree includes seven returning to assist Griffiths at AACC, as well as four within the AACPS high school ranks.
"Coach Griffiths is incredibly deserving of this honor," remarked Athletic Director Duane Herr '07. "Although his record and accomplishments on the field clearly attest to his success, his impact goes far beyond the win and loss columns. He guided the AACC women's lacrosse program with unwavering dedication and deep pride, devoting countless hours to coaching, mentoring, and shaping his student‑athletes. His many small but meaningful efforts consistently revealed a commitment that exceeded all expectations."
Griffiths' success spans his other coaching roles at AACC. He is slated to begin his 20th season as the women's soccer head coach in the fall of 2026. On the soccer sidelines, he has amassed a record of 209-104-27, has produced 18 NJCAA All-Americans, won five District championships, and will look to threepeat as Region 20 DII champions. Griffiths also previously coached cross country at AACC for 12 seasons, winning nine Region 20 titles with six top-10 team finishes at nationals.
Griffiths joins six other inductees in the 2026 hall of fame class.
