Five from Women's Lacrosse Named All-American
Hobbs, Reitz, Shaner, Skinner, and Foster-Fields earn national honors
ARNOLD, MD – Five members of the Anne Arundel Community College women's lacrosse team have been named All-Americans by the NJCAA, it was announced recently. Midfielders Madison Hobbs, Savanna Reitz, Madison Shaner, and Elsa Skinner, as well as defender Autumn Foster-Fields all took home national honors.
Hobbs led AACC and ranked fourth in the nation with a team-best 47 points on 26 goals and a team-high 21 assists in nine games. She finished the season ranked third in the nation in assists. Hobbs went a perfect 6-for-6 in free position shots, going 5-for-5 in a three-game span in early April, earning her a NJCAA Player of the Week nod on April 13. She was key in the circle, nabbing 50 draw controls on the year. Hobbs earned NJCAA All-Tournament Team honors with six goals and three assists against Onondaga in the semifinals on May 14.
Reitz was tied for the team lead and sixth nationally with 31 goals on the year, adding three assists for 34 points. She scored at least two goals in all 10 games this season, netting a career-high five at Monroe on March 25. She played a part in AACC's dominance on the draw, collecting 43 draw controls. Reitz caused 10 turnovers on the season, ranking second on the team.
Shaner started all 10 games, recording 21 goals and a pair of assists. She was AACC's most successful free-position shooter, netting 10 goals on 12 shots. She was named the Region 20 Player of the Month for April when she scored 17 goals on just 25 shots and went 8-for-9 in free-position shots. Shaner's two-way efforts showed up as a team-high 11 caused turnovers on the stats sheet.
Skinner also scored 31 goals this season to go with seven assists for 38 points. She opened the season with four goals and an assist against NCAA Division II Post University, earning her NJCAA Player of the Week Honors on March 16. She went on to total 16 goals, three assists, and 19 draws in March to take home Region 20 Player of the Month honors. Skinner had a hat trick and a game-high 10 draw controls against Onondaga to secure a spot on the NJCAA All-Tournament Team. She led AACC and ranked second in the nation with 55 draw controls on the season.
Foster-Fields earned All-America honors for the second time in her career, but for the first time in lacrosse; she was named an Honorable Mention All-American in basketball in 2020. The defender started all 10 games and scored two goals – both on free-position shots at home against Onondaga on April 2. She picked up 19 groundballs and seven caused turnovers on the year.
National champions Harford led the All-America team with six selections, followed by AACC with five. The Riverhawks made their record 13th appearance in the national tournament this season and wrapped up the year with a 6-5 record.
