ARNOLD, Md. — The Anne Arundel Community College baseball team swept a non-region home doubleheader Sunday, beating Camden CC, 4–2, in the opener at Skip Brown Field and edging them, 1–0, in the nightcap behind a fifth‑inning run from Jack Woods.
Game One: AACC 4, Camden 2
Matt Donaldson struck out six over 3.1 scoreless innings of relief work, closing out a two‑hit effort by the Riverhawks' staff. Clint Dorval started and fanned five in three innings. AACC took control with a three‑run fourth and added insurance in the fifth.
At the plate, Aidan Graham doubled home Chris Ricks in the fifth, Travis Fleshman tied it with an RBI single in the fourth and Woods followed with an RBI double. Camden Hodges lifted a sacrifice fly for AACC's first run. Ricks finished 1‑for‑2 with a steal and the go‑ahead run.
Game Two: AACC 1, Camden 0
Evan Birch spun five shutout innings (two hits, four strikeouts) for his first win of the season, and Ryan Jones recorded a two‑inning save as AACC completed the sweep. The Riverhawks scratched across the lone run in the fifth with two outs when Woods reached on a dropped third strike, stole second, and scored on Rylan Palle's single to right.
AJ Cozzone added a single and a stolen base for the Riverhawks.
AACC was scheduled to travel to CCBC Dundalk for a once-rescheduled doubleheader on Thursday, March 5, but inclement weather has changed the game again. The doubleheader is now scheduled to be played on Dundalk on Tuesday, March 10.
