Men's Golf Competes at Pair of NCAA Events
Riverhawks travel to Hagerstown Thursday
ARNOLD, Md. – The Anne Arundel Community College men's golf team competed at a pair of NCAA tournaments recently. The Riverhawks competed in the Albright Lions Invitational on Saturday, April 4, and at the Bernie Shootout hosted by Marymount University on Monday, April 6.
AACC was the only community college competing against 10 NCAA DIII schools from the MAC conference on Saturday at Golden Oaks Country Club in Fleetwood, Pa. The Riverhawks finished tied for 10th place as a team with a score of 321 (+33). Eddie Sarrach was the top individual finisher for AACC, finishing tied for 14th with a 76 (+4). Alexei Voice tied for 18th overall, finishing just one stroke back from Sarrach at 77 (+5). Will Maddox shot a 78 (+6) to tie for 27th. Declan McClure carded a 90 (+18), and Tommy Eisel finished two strokes behind McClure.
Peyton Moyer of Penn State-Berks finished six-under to take top individual honors. York College placed three golfers in the top 10 to take the team title with a 294 (+6), finishing one stroke ahead of Elizabethtown College.
The Riverhawks played at the exclusive TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm Monday in the Bernie Shootout hosted by Marymount University, finishing seventh out of eight teams with a 355 (+75). Sarrach and Voice tied for 21st overall with scores of 87 (+17). Will Maddox finished 31st with a 90 (+20), and Troy Basham rounded out the scoring for AACC with a 91 (+91), including a birdie on the 14th hole. Eisel birdied the 13th hole en route to a 99 (+29).
Host Marymount was the top team finisher at 306 (+26). Marymount teammates Andrew miller and Daniel Kwon tied for the top individual spot with scores of 74 (+4).
AACC plays its final regular-season Region 20 match on Thursday, April 9, playing at Maryland National Golf Club in Middletown, Md., in a match hosted by Hagerstown.
