ARNOLD, Md. – The Anne Arundel Community College men's lacrosse team won back-to-back road games this weekend as the Riverhawks topped Jefferson Community College, 13-12 in triple overtime Friday, and followed with a 23-6 win at Tompkins-Cortland Community College on Saturday.
AACC fought off two extended man-down stretches in overtime before freshman David Law scored the game-winner 1:59 into the third OT against Jefferson CC. He also added three assists on the day. Alex Patton led the Riverhawks with five goals and two assists, while Aaron Herdt scored three goals and added three helpers. Evan Davidson recorded his first career hat trick in the game.
James Kavney went 25-for-30 at the faceoff x, and Ian Roberts made 11 saves in goal.
On Saturday, AACC went on a pair of six-goal runs and scored the final eight goals of the game against Tompkins Cortland, led by a career-high 15 points from Herdt, who scored eight goals and assisted seven others. Nine different Riverhawks recorded at least one point in the game. Patton added six goals and two assists, and Law chipped in with three goals and four helpers. Carson Northrop recorded his first career multiple-goal game with two fourth-quarter strikes.
In addition to going 20-for-23 at the faceoff x, Kavney recorded a career-high four assists. Ethan Johnson won seven of eight faceoffs, including all six in the fourth quarter.
Roberts earned the win with the first 45 minutes in net before giving way to Mitch Riith, who closed out the game. The Riverhawks recorded 16 caused turnovers, marking the second-highest game total this season, while turning the ball over a season-low 12 times.
AACC (4-2) returns to Siegert Field on Sunday, March 29th to host No. 4 Nassau in a 1 p.m. game.
