ARNOLD, Md. – The No. 3 ranked Howard Community College men's lacrosse team defeated Anne Arundel, 31-5, Friday afternoon in a Region 20 game at Siegert Field. Evan Davidson scored a career-high four goals in the game and Carson Northrop added the other tally. David Law recorded an assist.
AACC recognized its seven sophomores prior to the game: Davidson, Northrop, Cullen Boswell, Aaron Herdt, James Kavney, Jake Howard, and Aidan Goldsmith.
Kavney was key at the faceoff x, winning 14 of 23 draws, while Ethan Johnson won eight of 16.
Ian Roberts made nine saves in 56 minutes in net. Mitch Riith made one stop in the final four minutes.Howard used runs of eight and 13 goals to take command of the game. Davidson scored his first goal less than five minutes into the game, lobbing in a man-up tally from the restraining line. He scored his second early in the second quarter dodging down the center before catching the upper left corner.
After Howard scored three goals in a span of 39 seconds in the third, Davidson completed the hat trick, bringing the ball up from GLE before rolling under his defender to get a clear shot.
Northrop hovered around the crease until Law fed him the ball for a quick dump shot with 1:10 left in the third quarter. Davidson capped the scoring for AACC by picking up a loose ball rebound and backhanded it into the net.
AACC wraps up its Region 20 slate with a 7 p.m. game at Harford on Wednesday, April 15.
