WESTMINSTER, Md. – The Anne Arundel Community College men's soccer team broke out offensively in a big way on Tuesday, scoring six second-half goals to power past Carroll Community College, 7-1, in NJCAA Region 20 play at Lynx Field.
The Riverhawks wasted no time striking first, as Jack Bell finished just 24 seconds into the match off a feed from Axel Cartagena. Carroll answered in the 12th minute to level the score, but from there it was all Anne Arundel.
After halftime, the Riverhawks put the match out of reach. Eneko Allen tallied the eventual game-winner in the 46th minute on an assist from Stephen Liberati, who then added a goal of his own three minutes later.
The floodgates opened as Lucas Cerulla, Knolin Walker, Aydan Simms, and Kevin Carter all found the back of the net in a dominant 20-minute span. Simms added two assists to go along with his goal, while Carter contributed a goal and an assist.
Anne Arundel fired 31 shots to Carroll's two, controlling possession and tempo throughout the contest. Goalkeepers Ethan Kiniry and Dylan Cunningham combined for the win in net.
With the victory, the Riverhawks picked up their first win of the season and a strong start in Region 20 play. They return to action on Friday hosting Richard Bland in a 1 p.m. game at Siegert Field.
