ARNOLD, Md. — The Anne Arundel Community College men's soccer team erased an early two-goal deficit and battled College of Southern Maryland to a 2–2 draw Tuesday night at Siegert Field.
CSM struck twice in quick succession midway through the first half, as Matthew Knapp scored in the 28th and again just 40 seconds later to make it 2-0.
The Riverhawks responded with resilience. Less than a minute later, Jack Bell got AACC on the board in the 30th minute, finishing a go-ahead pass from Kevin Carter. Ten minutes later, Lucas Cerulla leveled the match at 2–2, corralling an errant clear attempt before depositing it for his second goal of the season.
Anne Arundel controlled much of the second half, outshooting the Hawks 8-3 in the span and forcing five saves from keeper Brandon Rollins. The Riverhawks' Ethan Kiniry recorded three saves of his own and made a highlight-reel worthy diving stop to thwart a breakaway in the 81st minute.
The contest turned physical late, with five cards shown in the second half, including a red to CSM's Dominic Porovne in the 81st minute.
Despite playing a man up, AACC couldn't find the winner, with late shots from Cerulla and Henry Guillen stopped in the final minutes.
With the draw, Anne Arundel moved to 1–2–1 overall and 1–0–1 in Region 20 play, while Southern Maryland stands at 0–1–2 (0–1–1 Region 20).
The Riverhawks return to action Thursday in a 6 p.m. Region 20 divisional game at Prince George's.
