KEYSER, W.Va. — The Anne Arundel Community College men's soccer struck first on the road Tuesday night, but Potomac State rallied with three second-half goals to deal the Riverhawks a 3–1 loss at Stayman Field in Region 20 action.
The Riverhawks set the tone early. After earning a penalty kick in the 20th minute, Jack Bell saw his attempt saved, but pounced on the rebound and buried it to give AACC a 1–0 lead.
Anne Arundel carried that edge into halfime behind five saves from goalkeeper Ethan Kiniry. The second half, however, shifted in favor of the Catamounts. Potomac State's Matthieu Baudry equalized in the 47th minute off a setup from Hasan Azam. Azam then scored the go-ahead goal himself in the 76th minute before Mateo Miranda added an insurance tally in the 89th, assisted by Harper Furioso
The Riverhawks created chances throughout, posting 14 total shots—eight on goal—with Bell, Lucas Cerulla, and Stephen Liberati all testing the keeper. Potomac State finished with 11 shots, matching AACC with eight on target.
The game was a physical contest that produced seven yellow cards, all in the second half. With the setback, the Riverhawks moved to 1-3-1 overall and 1-1-1 in Region 20 games.
Anne Arundel is idle until Tuesday, September 16th, when the Riverhawks take on Division I Montgomery College in Rockville, Md.
