ARNOLD, Md. -- The Anne Arundel Community College men's soccer team cruised to its second straight win Thursday night, blanking CCBC Catonsville 5-0 at Siegert Field behind a balanced scoring effort and stingy defense.
AACC gave up just two shots to the Cardinals in the game, while peppering CCBC Catonsville keeper with 16 shots.
Kevin Carter paced the Riverhawks with two goals, starting with a header off a CJ Santos free kick in the 42nd and a penalty kick conversion midway through the second half. Santos added a goal in the 74th minute, while Aydan Simms and Shane DePaulo each found the back of the net in the final three minutes to round out the scoring. Cheik Kangoute and DePaulo contributed assists in the closing minutes as AACC pulled away.
AACC keeper Ethan Kiniry recorded one save to earn his first career shutout.
Prior to the game, the Riverhawks recognized the 10 sophomores on the team: Israel Argueta Henriquez, Eric Reyes-Ignacio, Olvin Martinez, Oliver Rivas, Reed Kimmel, Axel Cartagena, Henry Guillen, Andy Ordonio, DePaulo, and Kangoute.
