CUMBERLAND, Md. -- The Anne Arundel Community College men's soccer team closed the regular season with a 3-0 Region 20 divisional victory over Allegany College of Maryland on Tuesday afternoon. With the win, the Riverhawks clinch the number five seed in the upcoming Region 20 DII tournament.
Stephen Liberati scored twice for the Riverhawks, first to give AACC a two-goal cushion headed into halftime, then converting a feed from Aydan Simms to cap the scoring in the 85th minute. Axel Cartagena put AACC on the board in the 28th minute.
AACC keeper Ethan Kiniry turned away 12 shots to earn his second shutout of the season.
The Riverhawks (5-10-1, 5-5-1 Region 20), who have outscored opponents 11-4 in the last four games, travel to fourth seed Prince George's for the opening round of the Region 20 tournament Saturday to face the Owls at 11 a.m. in Largo, Md.
