BEL AIR, Md. — Anne Arundel Community College dropped both games of a conference softball doubleheader to Harford Community College on Wednesday, falling 14-6 in the opener before an 11-2 loss in the nightcap.
Game One: Harford 14, AACC 6
AACC built momentum in the middle innings but could not keep pace with Harford's steady offense. The Riverhawks scored three runs in the third and added single runs in each of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. Jayda Betts went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and two stolen bases, while Ryleigh Smoot and Mackenzie Sparwasser each drove in a run. Aubrey Cook also collected two hits and an RBI. Harford answered early with three runs in the first and four more in the second, then put the game away with a four-run fifth on its way to the 14-6 win. Kaylee Pruett led Harford by going 3 for 3 with a double and six RBIs.
Game Two: Harford 11, AACC 2
Harford jumped ahead quickly and never trailed in the nightcap. AACC scored two runs on three hits, scoring in the first and fifth innings. Betts paced the offense with a hit and a run scored. Mariah Fitzhenry tripled and scored, and Lucy Cardona drove in a run. Harford scored 11 runs over four innings, capitalizing on eight hits and multiple extra bases to secure the sweep.
Anne Arundel (2-20) travels to Allegany for a key Region 20 doubleheader on Wednesday, April 22, before wrapping up the regular season at home against Chesapeake Friday, April 24.
