ARNOLD, MD – The Anne Arundel Community College women's basketball team opened the season at home against Monroe College-Bronx Friday evening, falling to the Express, 85-52. Sophomore center Sarah Healy posted a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds to lead three Riverhawks with double-digit scoring efforts.

The double-double marked the third in a row for Healy, dating back to last season. Freshman Sydney Woodland recorded 17 points in her collegiate debut, going 10-for-18 at the line. Autumn Foster-Fields added 11 points and five rebounds for AACC.

The Express never trailed in the game, and doubled up AACC in the first quarter, 22-11. Monroe-Bronx kept on the pressure to carry a 41-22

The Riverhawks held the Express to 8-for-20 in the third quarter as AACC outscored their visitors, 21-20, in the frame on 7-of-16 shooting.  But Monroe-Bronx flipped the script and held AACC to 3-for-16 shooting in the fourth to take the game.

AACC is back in action Saturday at 1 pm when the Riverhawks host preseason No. 10 Brookdale at Jenkins Gym.
