Camden County Tops Women's Basketball
Riverhawks host Penn State York Saturday in home opener
BLACKWOOD, N.J. -- The Anne Arundel Community College women's basketball team battled hard in its season opener Tuesday but came up short in a 71-59 road loss to RV (DIII) Camden County College.
Sophomore Kiara Vaselaros led the Riverhawks with 19 points, shooting 6-for-14 from the floor and 7-for-14 at the free-throw line, while adding three rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Julia Fox poured in 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for a double-double, and Hope Lewis finished with 14 points and 11 boards for a double-double of her own.
Gabi McFarlan-Wisniewski anchored the interior with 15 rebounds, including 13 off the defensive glass, and Kellie Harring chipped in four points and three assists. As a team, Anne Arundel shot 54% from the field and outrebounded Camden by a 42-36 margin, but was undone by 16 turnovers and an 0-for-6 mark from three-point range.
Camden (1-0) was paced by Brianna Kemble, who scored 20 points with six steals and six assists.
Anne Arundel (0-1) returns to action Saturday for its home opener at Jenkins Gym, hosting Penn State York at 1 p.m.
