Late Rally Not Enough For Women's Basketball vs Cecil
Gabi McFarlan-Wisniewski scored 14 points
ARNOLD, Md. — The Anne Arundel Community College women's basketball team came alive in the fourth-quarter, but couldn't overcome a strong shooting performance from Cecil College in a 70–38 Region 20 divisional loss Saturday afternoon at Jenkins Gym.
Freshman Gabi McFarlan-Wisniewski led the Riverhawks with a team-high 14 points, hitting 6 of 12 from the floor and adding six rebounds and a steal. Kellie Harring added seven points and three assists, knocking down both of her three-point attempts.
Kiara Vaselaros filled the stat sheet with five points, five assists, seven steals, and two rebounds despite heavy defensive pressure. McKenzie Gilbert anchored the interior with 11 rebounds, two blocks, and three steals, while Julia Fox contributed six points and seven boards.
AACC put together its best stretch in the fourth quarter, scoring 17 points while forcing multiple turnovers and pushing the pace. But early offensive struggles and turnovers proved too much to overcome.
Cecil shot 40.3% and went 8-for-15 from three-point range, led by Bri Shelton's 23 points.
Anne Arundel is off until the first weekend in December when the Riverhawks travel to Penn State Fayette and Potomac State.
