Baltimore City Outlasts Women's Basketball
McKenzie Gilbert recorded her second double-double of the season
ARNOLD, Md. – The Anne Arundel Community College women's basketball team came out strong, but couldn't overcome foul and turnover trouble in a 71-54 loss to Division I Baltimore City Wednesday evening at Jenkins Gym.
Kiara Vaselaros scored a team-high 20 points to go with eight assists and six steals, while McKenzie Gilbert netted her second double-double of the season with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Julia Fox added 11 rebounds and five blocks.
AACC led, 16-10, after the opening frame, building the early advantage behind balanced scoring and key defensive stops. Baltimore City responded with 27 points in the second quarter to flip the momentum and carry a 37-23 lead into halftime. The Riverhawks clawed back in the third, outscoring the Panthers, 15-10, but saw the comeback slip away in the fourth with 13 turnovers and three players fouling out.
Baltimore City recorded 25 steals in the game and generated 30 points off of 41 AACC turnovers. AACC corralled 48 rebounds and scored 15 points off of 29 Panthers' turnovers.
The Riverhawks are idle until January 10, 2026, when they travel to Garrett for a 1 p.m. Region 20 divisional game. AACC returns home the next day to host Beaver County at 1 p.m. in Jenkins Gym.
