McKenzie Gilbert pulled down a career-high 19 rebounds
ARNOLD, Md. — The Anne Arundel Community College women's basketball team cut a double‑digit deficit to four late in the third quarter but couldn't complete the comeback, falling 63-48 to Community College of Beaver County Saturday in NJCAA Region 20 divisional action at Jenkins Gym.
Kaylee Motsinger led AACC with 12 points, while McFarlan‑Wisniewski finished with 11 points and eight rebounds. McKenzie Gilbert grabbed a career-high 19 rebounds, and Kellie Harring added eight points and three assists.
The Riverhawks struggled early, committing 12 turnovers in the first quarter and netting their first points after the first 8:47. AACC trailed 13-5 after one, but steadied themselves in the second quarter behind improved rebounding and defensive pressure, entering halftime down 24–18.
AACC made its strongest push in the third. Motsinger scored seven points in the period, and McFarlan‑Wisniewski added seven more as the Riverhawks outscored CCBC 20–18 to pull within four, 42–38.
CCBC (11-3) responded with a decisive fourth quarter. Brooklynn Medina scored 12 of her game‑high 28 points in the final period, and Josie Russell finished with 25 points and 20 rebounds as the Titans pulled away.
Anne Arundel outrebounded CCBC, 62-45 but shot 30 percent from the field and committed 26 turnovers leading to 26 points for the Titans.
AACC is back in action on Wednesday, January 14, in a 5 p.m. NJCAA Region 20 divisional game at Prince George's Community College.
