Interest meeting on Tuesday, December 17
ARNOLD, Md. – Anne Arundel Community College announces the hiring of Mike Rice as head coach of the women's golf program. The program will begin competition in the spring of 2025.
"I am so honored and thrilled to be named the women's golf coach at AACC. I am excited to share my knowledge and experience with the team as we work together to build and grow the program," said Rice. "Sponsoring a varsity women's golf team at the community college level is a huge step forward for the sport. I'm looking forward to coaching the student-athletes and helping them advance their collegiate careers," he added.
Rice has served as the head golf coach at Perryville High School for the last four seasons, during which time he expanded the team roster by 300%. Rice guided the Panthers to back-to-back Cecil County runner up finishes.
"I am excited to welcome women's golf to our sport offerings and delighted that Mike Rice will be our head coach," said Athletic Director Duane Herr '07. "He has proven his ability to not only recruit and build a program, but also to develop students' golf games. More important is how he consistently demonstrates his excitement to lead the growth of women's golf within our community and beyond," Herr added.
Rice is an associate teaching professional with the United States Golf Teachers Federation, and is a certified Class A Professional teacher/member with the Professional Golf Teachers Association of America.
Rice has coordinated the premier junior golf league in Cecil County for the last four years, drawing an average of 50 golfers from all across the Northeast US. He focuses his coaching on both fundamentals and etiquette, while instilling a love of the game of golf in his participants.
Rice is a retired Baltimore City police detective and a United States Marine Corps veteran. He is the owner of MWR Investigations, which provides security services throughout the DMV and Pennsylvania.
Student-athletes interested in participating in women's golf are invited to complete a prospective student-athlete form and attend an interest meeting at the Arnold Campus on Tuesday, December 17, at 5 pm in Jenkins Gym Room 125.
