Underwood, Gilbert Compete at Southeast District Women's Golf Championship
Duo represented AACC Women's Golf in two-day tournament
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Two members of the Anne Arundel Community College women's golf team competed at the NJCAA DII Southeast District Championship this week at the Dead Horse Lake Golf Course. The event was hosted by No. 8 Roane State Community College, who fielded the only other competitors in the two-day tournament.
Chloe Underwood and McKenzie Gilbert represented AACC in the program's first NJCAA District Championship appearance. Underwood cut 18 strokes off her first-round score to card a season low in round two.
"With strong drives off the tee box, both Chloe and McKenzie did an amazing job handling the heat and long course," said Head Coach Mike Rice. "Their positive attitudes and strong athletic abilities got them through two long rounds. I am extremely proud of their efforts. They showed great improvement in their playing skills in a short time period, and more importantly, they represented AACC with great character and sportsmanship."
Roane State clinched the automatic team berth in the 2025 NJCAA Division II Women's Golf Championship, May 13-16 at Cedar Pointe Golf Course in Boone, Iowa.
