Tinelli Named CSC Academic All-American
Women's Soccer defender just second Academic All-American in AACC history
ARNOLD, Md. – Anne Arundel Community College women's soccer standout Tina Tinelli has been named to the 2024-25 Academic All-America® Women's At-Large Second Team, as selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC).
The sophomore soccer defender was valedictorian of the 2025 AACC graduating class, finishing her studies with a 4.0 GPA and an associate degree in information assurance & cybersecurity. She is one of 20 two-year student-athletes nationwide to earn the prestigious award for academic and athletic excellence.
The Severna Park native was named to the NJCAA All-America Second team in December, and is a two-time NJCAA Region 20 First Team honoree, an NJCAA All-Tournament Team selection, and a two-time NJCAA All-Academic First Team honoree. She helped AACC to its first Division II NJCAA national tournament appearance this season when the Riverhawks allowed opponents just 10.83 shots per game and recorded six shutouts with a 14-3-1 record.
"Tina is very deserving of this award," said Head Women's Soccer Coach Jim Griffiths. "It is the culmination of a fantastic career both academically and athletically.
In her two-year career, Tinelli started all 34 games for the Riverhawks, scoring nine goals and adding six assists. This season, she scored four goals including the game-winner in a key divisional matchup at Garrett, and added six assists. Tinelli's free kick goal from 36 yards out in the 2023 Region 20 championship game will forever be a shining moment in Riverhawks history.
Tinelli is just the second Academic All-America® honoree from AACC, joining Natalie Sonntag, who earned First Team honors in 2020.
