WESTFIELD, Ind. — The No. 13 Anne Arundel Community College women's soccer team opened its season with a pair top-20 games at the 2025 JUCO Kickoff Classic, dropping contests to No. 17 Rock Valley and No. 18 Iowa Lakes.
On Saturday, the Riverhawks fell, 3-2, to No. 17 Rock Valley in a back-and-forth match. The Riverhawks struck first in the 15th minute when Alyssa Simms scored, assisted by Emma Miga. After Rock Valley netted two quick goals to take a 2-1 lead into halftime, Anne Arundel equalized in the 65th minute through Alaina Minefski. Rock Valley regained the advantage in the 73rd minute and held on for the 3-2 win despite nine saves from goalkeeper Ryleigh Smoot.
On Sunday, the Riverhawks faced No. 18 Iowa Lakes and dropped a 2-0 decision. The Lakers scored both goals in the first half, with tallies in the sixth and 23rd minutes. Smoot was again busy in goal, recording eight saves, while Anne Arundel managed five shots on target but couldn't break through against Iowa Lakes goalkeeper Holly Poole.
