ARNOLD, Md. – The Anne Arundel Community College stormed past Garrett College, 9-0, on Tuesday evening at Siegert Field, using a balanced attack and smothering defense to secure its sixth consecutive victory and fourth shutout of the season.
The Riverhawks dominated possession from the opening whistle, scoring five first-half goals and outshooting Garrett 39-0. Alyssa Simms opened the scoring in the seventh minute, then added another goal in the second half while also assisting on two others to record a team-high four points. Emma Miga notched a brace in the second half, while Chloe Underwood, MacKenzie Baldwin, Holly Wall, Eleyna Entsminger, and Riley Sheets also found the back of the net
Entsminger, Sheets, and Miga each added assists. Ryleigh Smoot earned the win with 57 minutes in goal before giving way to Wall; neither keeper was tested.
Anne Arundel returns to action Thursday in a 2 p.m. Region 20 divisional game at Frederick.
