ARNOLD, Md. -- The second seeded Anne Arundel Community College women's soccer team dealt seventh seed CCBC Catonsville a 13-0 loss on Saturday in the first round of the NJCAA Region 20 DII tournament at Siegert Field.
The win marked the fourth consecutive shutout for the Riverhawks, who have outscored opponents, 52-4, in the month of October.
AACC (13-4) scored seven times in the first half and added six more after the break, outshooting the Cardinals 38-0. Alyssa Simms recorded a hat trick and assist to lead the attack, while Emma Miga added two early goals in the opening four minutes. Maddie Raynes also scored twice and Alaina Minefski collected a team-high four assists
Eva Gionis, Kat Budowski, McKenzie Gilbert, Eden Abey, Reagan Chilton, and Riley Sheets rounded out the scoring in the lopsided win. Goalkeeper Ryleigh Smoot earned her seventh shutout of the season without facing a shot.
AACC advances to the Region 20 DII semifinals, facing sixth seed Allegany at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29th at Howard Community College.
