Men's Basketball Drops Game to No. 20 Chesapeake
Al-Ameen Sanni records third double-double
WYE MILLS, Md. —No. 20 Chesapeake College dealt the Anne Arundel Community College men's basketball team a 99–64 loss in a Region 20 divisional game at Skipjack Arena Friday evening.
The Riverhawks weathered a difficult opening half but showed resilience after the break, scoring 47 points in the second half after being limited to just 17 in the opening 20 minutes. Chesapeake carried a 55–17 lead into halftime and maintained control throughout.
Anne Arundel was led offensively by Al-Ameen Sanni, who finished with a team-high 18 points and 10 rebounds for his third double-double of the season, while Ryan Stacy added 16 points and four assists. John Hutton chipped in 12 points on 6-of-8 shooting and grabbed six rebounds as AACC shot 42.6% from the floor in the game.
Despite the improved second-half efficiency, Chesapeake's balance and depth proved decisive. The home team shot 51.9 % overall and placed five players in double figures, led by 22 points from La'Shaun Moody and 15 from Elisha Johnson-Dixon. Chesapeake also held a 48–25 advantage on the glass.
The Riverhawks (0-7) will look to build on their second-half momentum as they close out the first half of the season with a 7 p.m. home game against Division I Baltimore City on Wednesday, January 17.
