ARNOLD, MD – The No. 5 Anne Arundel Community College men's soccer team fell to visiting Division I Montgomery Thursday afternoon in Region 20 action at Siegert Field. The Riverhawks trailed, 2-0, at halftime and allowed three additional goals in the second half.
The Riverhawks (5-2) came alive late in the first half, but were thwarted by Montgomery keeper Marvin Cheguen Mendez on the attempt. Davis Bosley played in a long corner to Daevon Lionel in the 43rd minute, but Mendez was there to make the stop.
In the 56th minute, Connor Pollack had a solid attempt, but was again denied by Mendez. AACC two more breakaways in the second half, first from Raphael Arias in the 61st minute, and again in the 78th minute from Terrance Espinal.
Riverhawks keeper Edgar Garcia made four saves in the game, including three in the second half.
Montgomery led in corners, 8-2, and outshot the Riverhawks, 18-10.
AACC hosts Prince George's on Tuesday, September 27, at 5 p.m, in a key Region 20 divisional match.
