HAGERSTOWN, MD. – The Anne Arundel Community College volleyball team dropped a pair of Region 20 divisional matches Saturday, falling to host Hagerstown, 3-0, and Garrett, 3-0.
Hagerstown limited AACC to just 14 kills in the day's first match to win, 25-8, 25-18, 25-18. Emily Ezeiruaku led the Riverhawks with five kills and shared the team lead with eight digs. Leah Tompkins added four kills, six digs, and a block in two sets played. Ari Smith chipped in with eight digs in her first match as a Riverhawk.
AACC's defense was put on alert in the day's second game, totaling 37 digs across three sets. Garrett won the match, 25-16, 25-19, 25-19. Smith put up double digit digs with 12, while Ezeiruaku added 10 and two blocks to go with a team-high four kills. Nadia Suber recorded a season-high five blocks.
The Riverhawks are back in action on Tuesday, September 9, in a 6 p.m. home match against the College of Southern Maryland.
